ASHM – the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine, is currently organising a Training Course in Perth on 3rd March 2012 on STIs and Hepatitis B–Clinical Management in General Practice: Engaging Your Aboriginal Clients.

The Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM) is the peak representative professional body of health professionals in Australasia who work in the areas of health concerned with HIV. ASHM draws on its experience and expertise to contribute in the related areas of viral hepatitis and sexual health.

The course provides an overview of the epidemiology, testing principles, pathogenesis, natural history and treatment of STIs and Hepatitis B .
Participants will be provided with practical information on culturally competent methods for engaging Aboriginal clients in STI and Hepatitis B testing and management.

This is a FREE course . The course is a Category 1 Active Learning Module (40 RACGP QA&CPD points) and is Approved with ACRRM for 8 Core PDP Points. Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, allied health workers, pharmacists, drug and alcohol rehabilitation workers and prison officers are also welcome to attend.
