A new public hospital planned for Midland will be barred from offering any sterilisation or contraception treatments if the preferred operator, St John of God Health Care, secures the contract.

The revelation came after a doctor was barred from practising at the group's Subiaco hospital for breaching the Catholic Church's anti-contraception doctrine by carrying out a vasectomy.
