Clinical Instruction Workshop
Does your work involve you in teaching or mentoring other clinical staff or students?
Are you working in the field of sexual and reproductive health?
Would you like to develop your skills to provide effective clinical instruction?
This half-day FPWA Clinical Instruction Workshop will clarify the roles and
responsibilities of the clinical instructor, explore the complexities of the consultation
triad, practise giving feedback, analyse competence and its assessment, explore the
management of difficult situations and review how we can support ourselves in this
role.
Venue: FPWA, 70 Roe St (Cnr Roe and Lake), Northbridge

FPWA Approved Clinical Preceptors
FPWA is keen to encourage skilled and experienced sexual health clinicians with the
appropriate theoretical training to become external clinical preceptors. Approved
external clinical preceptors are authorised to supervise and assess clinicians during
their clinical practicum for FPWA Certificate courses.
Prospective preceptors will need to complete a Clinical Preceptor Workshop and a
peer review clinical session with an FPWA clinician.
The Clinical Preceptor Workshop includes the Clinical Instruction Workshop
above, together with an additional afternoon session (1.00pm – 3.00pm) on the
same day. This workshop will review the content of the Clinical Practice component
of the FPWA Certificate courses, the use of the Clinical Practice Portfolios and the
roles and responsibilities of an FPWA clinical preceptor.
